Mark Baines is a young adult from Brisbane, Australia. The son of a pastor, Mark decided early on not to go the traditional route into ministry. While not an official pastor, he has a ministers heart as he seeks to present Jesus in relevant ways, especially to people who've given up on church.
Welcome to the new website for the Center for Secular and Postmodern Ministries (CSPS) based out of the Global Missions Office at the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventist. The CSPS is taking on a new direction. We’ve heard your needs as well as your ideas and now we’re putting the concepts into practice.
Ministry: can we make it tangible, organic, relevant in a postmodern world? We can. But it must be embodied in real flesh. It must be right in the heart of life. Real life. It must become incarnational ministry: living, breathing, ministry in everyday life [ref. John 1:14].
Appropriate ways to speak of people in the postmodern demographics: These people are often those who have had either no experience with Christianity in general, or who have had a bad experience with Christianity. In either case, they place a high value on being treated with respect and courtesy.
